Crohn’s Disease Patients Test Experimental Stem Cell Treatment

(CBS News) – It’s a painful, chronic, and for some, untreatable condition. More than 700,000 Americans suffer from Crohn’s disease, an inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation of the digestive tract that can lead to abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss and malnutrition. Now, scientists in the UK have launched a new clinical study to test the use of a stem cell treatment for the inflammatory bowel disease.
